Robometricschool. - One sensor component that very useful to detect human movement is Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR). Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR) is an infrared-based sensor. However, unlike most of the infrared sensor consists of an IR LED and phototransistor.

PIR does not emit anything like the IR LED. True to its name 'Passive', this sensor only responds to the energy of infrared rays passively held by each object detected by it. Objects that can be detected by this sensor is usually the human body. In figure 1 below is the PIR shape that we can get in the electronic market.
To implement this component we can connect output of this component to microcontroller. You can see figure 2 to know how to connect Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR) to microcontroller.

We can implement this component to know in security system. Like to detect the human that will open the door of the cabinet. PIR sensor sequence serves to give input on the microcontroller to find out availability of thieves forced open the cupboard.
PIR sensor effectively used as human detection. PIR sensor can work up to a distance of 10 meters, so it is enough to use in a closet. Microcontroller will get input from the sensor if there are thieves forced entry into the cupboard.
