3 Kind Electric Actuator that Usually Used in Mobile Robot

Robometricschool. - One part that very important when we design mobile robot is actuator that usually using many kinds of motors. In here we will introduce you 3 kinds motors that usually used in mobile robot.

When we said about actuator, there are many kinds of actuator depending on the usage. And usually actuator consist of electrical actuator like motor and pneumatic with valve.

In mobile robot we will use electric actuator like motor when we design this robot. There are 3 kinds motors that usually used in mobile robot as likes DC Motor, Servo Motor, and Stepper Motor. And we will introduce one by one 3 kinds electric actuator here.

A. DC Motor.

We think you will not foreign again with this electric actuator that called DC Motor. This motor very common used in mobile robot. There are many advantages when we use DC motor when we design mobile robot as follow:
  1. DC motors are relatively clean, quiet, and can generate enough power for a variety of purposes and widely used in Mobile Robot.
  2. DC motors are also much easier on the control of the pneumatic.
  3. DC motor rotates freely and need feedback mechanism using shaft encoder.

To rotate DC motor we can use simple and complex electronic circuit schematic that called with DC Motor Driver. When we only need one direction motor dc rotation we only need very simple circuit, and when we need to rotate DC Motor as like we design mobile robot we must can control DC Motor to rotate in dwi direction these are anti-clock wise and clock wise. To do this jobs you can use electronic circuit of Hybridge DC Motor Driver.

B. Servo Motor

Servo Motor also popular enough when we will design mobile robot and very specially when we design humanoid robot.

Unlike the DC motor, PW input is not converted into speed with setting the desired position servo rotating disk (disk head). Servo motor not continuous rotation servo motors such as DC
Range of only about + 120 degree turn to the middle position. Servo motor combines a DC motor with a simple feedback circuit.

And you can figure below as the aplication of Servot Motor in robot design.

C. Stepper Motor

One of the position motor that many applied in robot is Stepper Motor. Differences with DC motors, stepper motors using two independent loops these are motor movement back and forth is not continuous as in a DC motor but could per step by using a impulse.

Generally 200 steps per full rotation (revolution) this is 1.8 ° / step, but there is that half of it is so subtle rotation. There is a number of Max step / sec depending on the speed limit load on stepper motors.

Simple Bidirectional DC Motor Driver Schematic using IC 741

Robometricschool. - There are many ways to make bidirectional DC motor rotary. We can use H-bridge DC Motor Driver Schematic to rotate the DC motor bidirectional. Other way to make bidirectional DC motor rotary is using IC 741 as voltage comparison to make positive and negative output signal.

In here we will show you the electronic circuit schematic of Simple Bidirectional DC Motor Driver Schematic using IC 741, included the components list, and performance of the circuit schematic.

Components List

According figure 1 above, we only need few simple and components as like IC 741, VR, Resistor, NPN and PNP Transistor. You can see all the value of the component like in figure 1 above.

Schematic Performance

According figure 1 above that Bidirectional DC Motor Driver Schematic divided into two parts as like the comparison part as controller signal generator that bult from IC 741 and transistor as dc motor driver that bult from NPN and PNP transistor.

In part of comparison we know that the performance is  At the time of the control voltage (pin 3) is higher than the voltage at pin 2 then the voltage comparison IC 741 and IC 741 will provide the output voltage with a positive level, it will provide forward bias to reverse bias the transistor Q1 and the transistor Q2. then the voltage at pin 3 is lower than the voltage comparison IC pin 2 then gave the 741 will output a negative level, so that the transistor Q2 gets forward biased and reverse biased transistor Q1 gets.

And from part of transistor as driver DC motor we know that the transistor is used as a DC motor driver is a type TIP31 transistors for Q1 and Q2 TIP32 for. At the forward bias of Q1 and Q2 have the reverse bias the DC motors have a positive current source through Q1 so that the DC motor to move in a clockwise direction.

Then at Q2 and Q1 gets the forward bias to reverse bias DC motors have a negative voltage source to a DC motor to move counter-clockwise.  The size of the bias voltage on the base of Q1 and Q2 bidirectional DC motor driver circuit described above will affect the speed of rotation of DC motors. Bias voltage control transistor proficiency level by VR1 in circuit driver the bidirectional DC motor.

So it is very the bidirectional DC Motor Driver Schematic that can help you to built bidirectional rotary DC motor in other way besides the using H-bridge transistor to make bidirectional rotary DC motor.

Electronic Circuit Schematic of Servo Motor Controller using IC NE555

Robometricschool. - One motor kind that many used in robot, UAV, etc is Servo Motor. In this time we want to show you one kinds of controller of Servo motor using IC NE555 electronic circuit schematic.

You will find there are many ways how to control servo motor this days. We here will show very simple circuit schematic of servo motor controller using IC NE 555 as follow.

Component List

The main component of the Electronic Circuit Schematic of Servo Motor Controller here is IC NE 555. And for all component you can see easily from figure 2 above.

Schematic Performance 

Servo motor controller circuit in the figure 2 above is an example of a simple servo motor controller. This servo motor controller circuit using IC NE555 pulse generator controls the servo motor rotation. 

Setting of IC NE555 pulse generator is working astabil-multivibrator with a frequency of 50 Hz with a pulse period of 20 ms and positive pulse width (duty cycle) can be set. This servo motor controller circuit can be operated using a voltage source + 6 volts DC. Setting motion servo motor with servo motor control circuit is done by adjusting the potentio-meter lever 100 Kohm as like in figure 2 above.

Here are the performance of the servo motor controller above:
  1. Servo motor control output path is taken from pin 3 IC NE555 and connected to the signal pin servo motors. 
  2. This control signal will control the movement of the servo motors are regulated by a servo motor control circuit through a 100 Kohm potentiometer on the circuit. 
  3. 100 Kohm potentiometer on the controller circuit above will set the positive pulse period to control servo motors from 0.9 ms to 2.1 ms. 
  4. With a positive variation of pulse width from 0.9 to 2.1 ms the servo motor can then set conditions for stopping the movement of the moving clockwise, stopping in the middle position and moving counter-clockwise.

Function Google Glass in Contact Lens Found by Scientist

Robometricschool. - Do you know about Google Glass? The Google Glass has been giving inspiration to many scientist to develop gadget trend that can used in human body.

More recently, a group of scientists developed a contact lens that functions similar to Google smart glasses. And it is indicated that technology trend always develop to help human.

Scientist has been developing contact lens that can functioned like Google Glass. This contact lens shaped tangible tiny transparent, highly conductive and elastic mixture of graphene and silver nano-wire elements, this object will be attached to the contact lens to bring the experience of using the features like Google Glass. So it is very nice.

The scientist has been try this contact lens in rabbit because rabbit eyes like human eyes. So far, the test results showed that contact lenses can function properly. The rabbits seem not trying rubbed his eyes. Arguably, the contact lenses do not interfere with their vision. Nor are found rabbit eyes reddened due to the use of contact lenses.

According the scientist that found and always develop this contact lens said that These smart contact lenses will continue to be developed so it will actually be used in humans. Later, this kind of contact lenses can be used to monitor a person's health by integrating it with the bio-sensor. Or it could also help people who have a visual impairment.

So for you who has a visual impairment can utilize this contact lens to help your vision. But you must still be patient until this research be perfect to use. (source:detikinet)
