When we note the 12 VDC transformerless power supply schematic like in figure 1 above, transformer component changed with resistor, capasitor, and also zener diode. You must note all value of these components.

Schematic Performance 

We will describe the performance of 12 VDC transformerless power supply schematic above as follow:
  • To get 12 VDC in output this schematic is used zener diode ZD3 12V. With this component dc voltage from R2 100 ohm will be regulated to be 12 VDC.  
  • C2 47 uF is used to stable the output DC voltage from bridge diode BR1
  • As substitute of transformer, are used components as like resistor FR, R1 with high power, capacitor C1 with high voltage more than 400 volt, and also zener diode ZD1 and ZD2 to get 16 volt AC. All components connected series one to other like in schematic. 
  • Capacitor C1 although connected series it can flow AC voltage to zener diode. It like the characteristic of this capacitor component that will allow AC current and blocked DC current.
