Lesson Part of Robotic about Robotic Anatomy as Basic Element in Robot Technology Fundamental

Robometricschool. - In this time i want to discuss next lesson in robotic theory about robot anatomy as robot technology fundamentals.

As robot technology fundamentals, robot anatomy is urgent to know for people who want to learn robot more detail and continuously. With learn robot anatomy we will know about basic elements that commonly any in all robot technology.

Robot anatomy can define as elements which common to all robots that can be considered as the basic elements in robot technology. 

There are 5 basic elements which are common to all robots as follow:

  1. Manipulator.  Manipulator is the most obvious part of the robot and mainly consists of a base, an arm and wrist. Within the manipulator are the mechanical part like links, joints, transmission links, sensors which executes the robot movements in desire number of degrees of freedom. The movement of the manipulator can be described in relation to its coordinate system which may be cylindrical, spherical, cartesion or anthropomorphic. Depending on the controller, movement can be servo or non servo controlled and can be point to point motion or continuous path motion.
  2. Controller. It is the brain of a robot and is based on a computer or a system computers. In major functions are to store, to sequence and to position in data in memory, to initiate, stop and control motion of manipulator as per instructions given to interact with the environment. The controller which have two components, namely, the hardware and the software.
  3. End Effector. It is tool which directly interacts with the job. Depending on the type of worst the end effector may be a gripper, a spray painting torch and a welding torch etc. Gripper can be mechanical, vacuum or magnetic type. The variety of tools and grippers that can be adopted for robot usually is unlimited.
  4. Sensors. In case of intelligent robots, sensing as well as its interaction with environment essential. Different types of sensors can be incorporated.
  5. Energy Source. Movement of manipulator arm requires energy and this is supplied by energy source. Depending on load range and type of application, it may be electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic. For small-and medium size robots electrical source is generally employed. 
From 5 elements as basic element in robot technology, we can applied when we design or building robot in our practical.
